Today is Mormon Prom
also known as the Priest/Laurel Formal Dance
Alaina's group of friends decided to make it into a real event.
Josh asked Alaina to go with him
by stringing twine from our front door
through the neighborhood
all the way down to
and through
Jenessa's house
to her backyard
where he stood waiting for her by the trampoline.
He attached encouraging signs along the way so she would know to keep going.

She happily said yes.
Hair and makeup was at Sarah's house.

Dinner was Chicago Style Deep Dish Pizza
at Giordano's.
Then the kids drove back here and met the LIMO for a fun ride to the Schaumburg Stake Center where the leaders of five stakes have joined forces to decorate, provide great food and good, fun, clean music for a memorable evening.

Alaina borrowed the dress Emily wore at Mark and Em's reception.
We decided it would be really cute if she added a petticoat underneath.
So I sewed one for her.

Looks like so much fun. I hope that she realizes the great blessing it is to have people organize something wonderful like that, and to have enough young people with like values around to make it fly.
That sounds like such an awesome event! I hope when my kids get older they have good options like that to help them be morally strong, and still have lots of fun.
Emily and her friends actually proposed this idea to the stake YW leaders when they were in high school. They didn't get to reap the benefits of their efforts, but this group of youth are certainly enjoying it. There are 8 stakes involved (from Joliet up to the border of Wisconsin) and our stake YW pres said this year they did all of the planning via emails & web conferences. Each stake takes an area of responsibility for the evening and rotate each year. The kids are very aware of the efforts that are expended and are very appreciative and get really excited about it too.
